![]() Hi, my name is Kara and I'm writing to tell you about Reiki. I've been a massage therapist for the past 5 1/2 years, ever since graduating from the Ann Arbor Institute of Massage. I have more recently become interested in and have been practicing Reiki. What is Reiki? Reiki is a light touch therapy that is helpful with physical, emotional, mental healing and well-being. "Rei" refers to universal spiritual wisdom, and "kei" is the vital life force. "Ki" is also know as "chi", "prana", "mana", "spirit" and even bioelectro magnetic field. Reiki charges an individual with positive energy. It clears, strengthens and creates clear channels or pathways inside of oneself to allow for more optimal flow of the Universal Life Force. When giving Reiki, a practitioner "holds space" for the receiver, or acts as a channel. The healing is actually done by the receiver. Reiki works with your own ability to heal. What is Reiki used to treat? Any physical problem and it also works very well for anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, insomnia, digestive problems, restless legs, headaches and many other issues. Every individual is their own healer but often times healing happens when someone can "be" in the presence of another. Reiki allows the receiver to just "be" and let the healing energy take over and do its job. It's not complicated and it is very relaxing. My hands become very warm, even hot when I am practicing Reiki. I love this healing technique and invite any questions you have. Regards, Kara
